How should chip capacitors be replaced?

When using a chip capacitor , whether it can be directly replaced or not depends on the specific situation. Capacitors in the same package cannot distinguish the capacitance value from the appearance. Although the thickness of the 100nF and 1nF capacitors in the same package may be different, it is difficult to distinguish from the appearance.

1. The chip on the power supply side of the chip can be replaced

When designing the circuit, a 100nF ceramic capacitor will be designed on the power supply pin of the chip to filter the power supply. If the capacitor is dropped, it is more likely to be replaced. Even if the capacitor is dropped and not soldered, there is generally not much problem.

2. The peripheral capacitor of the chip cannot be replaced

When designing a circuit for some chips, it is necessary to design a capacitor with a specific value on a pin according to the description in the manual. This type of capacitor plays an important role in the normal operation of the chip, and this type of capacitor cannot be arbitrarily replaced.

In the past, when designing a certain capacitor, a certain pin of a chip needed a capacitor with a specific capacitance value, but the capacitor used had just a few wrong capacitors, resulting in the wrong use of the capacitor. When the product was tested, the product functioned without any problems, but when testing its response time there was a problem, it couldn't meet the requirements, and it took a lot of time to find the problem in the end. Therefore, such capacitors cannot be replaced.

As can be seen from the above figure, one end of the capacitor connected to the larger copper skin may be GND, then the capacitor may play a filtering role. You can insert a memory stick in the absence of a capacitor to confirm whether it can work normally. Sometimes it may be possible. Missing capacitors also work fine.
